- Introductions and Apologies
Cllr Lagden welcomed all to the meeting.
- Annual Report from the Chair Cllr Lagden.
- Over the last year, the meeting has been chaired on a rotation basis, it is felt that this has worked well and involved all councillors.
- One new councillor Cllr Tony Hames was welcomed to the PC.
- The Clerk and Treasurer were thanked for their hard work.
- All councillors were thanked for their valuable contributions over the year.
- The repair of the village pump has been finalised and a plaque mounted following a request by the Manson family.
- The new notice board has been erected.
- Issues raised over the year have included the ineffectual speed bumps, the speeding on Doncaster Road, complaints about the visibility at the junction of Darrington and Doncaster Road with the overgrown hedge, the need for new signage to reflect the boundary change, action on Rigg lane to secure the Elm tree, and the need for two new dog waste bins but there has been no action as yet by WMDC.
- There has been some progress: the area by the pump shed has been mowed and now looks much tidier, the damaged road traffic signs have been repaired.
- District Councillor Brian Mayhew was thanked for his regular attendance over the year and for following up issues with WMDC on our behalf.
- Thanks to Mr Roy Donaldson for his upkeep of the war memorial and organising of memorial events.
- Thanks to Ralph Horne for his oversight of the defibrillator.
- Thanks to John and Diane Ransome for their oversight of the telephone box library.
- Thanks to Jeff Hill for his litter picking.
- Treasurer’s Report
Cllr Barker reported that it has been a good year financially with no unforeseen expenses and the year finished on a surplus. The repair of the pump house and notice board were paid for from CIL funding. It is hoped to pay for boundary notices from CIL funding but we are awaiting costings from WMDC. With the receipt of the CIL funding, interest on the account and Precept, the current balance is £10247.47.
Thanks to Cllr Barker for her diligent oversight and monitoring of finances.
- Election of Chair
Cllr Hames was proposed for the position of chair, proposed Cllr Spurdens, seconded Cllr Barker. He accepted and was duly elected.
- Accounts Annual Governance and Accountability Return: Cllr. Barker
The Internal Audit was completed by John Ransome. This was approved.
The papers for the External Audit were completed.
ACTION: The Clerk will add these to the website and send the required documents to the auditors.
- Reports from Community Organisations
Ackworth Riding for the Disabled: Ms Jackie Kinsey reported that the RDA is situated on land by the old railway station off Station Road. There are 4 fields, 3 stables, barn, classroom, toilets, and tack room. Sadly, after 40 years, their landlord has given them notice to leave. They are currently looking for alternative sites. Cllr Lagden said the PC is sorry to hear this disappointing news and will help if they can.
Cawood Trust: Roy Donaldson sent the following report: Interest from investments held with the Charity Commission amount to £2000 available for donation. They will be allocated, as in previous years, to Ackworth United Charities, the Church of St Stephen, and young people of the village for education purposes. Five young people received gratuities in the last year. A special one-off donation of £5000 was made to the church this year towards its roof fund using reserves known as the vicar’s stipend. Money in Ackworth was donated to repair work on the Alms houses.
Hundhill Cricket Club: the secretary did not attend the meeting.
