- Matters Arising:
Signage for the new boundary: Cllr Barker reported that the Clerk had emailed Dt Cllr Anderson whose remit is Highways, cc-ed to Mr Richard Hobman at WMDC to report that the funding is in place and the boundary project can go forward but had received no reply.
Dt Cllr Booth reported that he and Mr Hobman had driven through the village, Hundhill and the Kennels. They had agreed a time frame of 5-6 weeks to complete the boundary signage and redo the speed bump on the corner of Darrington road. He will chase this up.
The millstone on Station Road: Cllr Hames reported that this is now with WMDC to address.
Village Hall land ownership: Cllr Hames reported that he has a meeting with the solicitor next week. The village hall committee meets later in the week so he should be in a position to inform councillors of progress shortly.
Garages and Allotment Tenancy agreement: Cllr Barker reported that the tenancy agreement needs updating and suggested a subgroup meet to do this by the end of the year.
Cricket Club concerns: the Clerk replied to the letter from a concerned resident. Cllr Hames reported that he approached the cricket club and neighbours to discuss concerns as this is not a one-off incident. The nets have been moved to protect neighbouring houses. The family involved has contacted a solicitor.
There are further concerns about the parking on the verge of the road. ACTION: Cllr Hames will explore whether the club can provide parking within the perimeter.
Allotments: Cllr Wheatley reported that that the vacant allotment has now been advertised on the Facebook page and website. In addition, the gate into the allotments is rotten and it was agreed that she could get price for a replacement.
Telephone Box restoration: Cllr Spurdens reported that work has been completed on the phone box. Progress was reported on the website. She has been in contact with John and Diane Ransome who look after the library in the telephone box and they feel that no further work is necessary, although a sign would help. ACTION: Cllr Spurden will speak to John Ransome.
Overhanging hedge: Cllr Hames reported that he had approached the residents who assured them that they would cut the hedge. However, shortly after this, the hedge was cut by WMDC. The Parish Council did not refer this to WMDC.
Speed sign: The speed sign on Doncaster Road by the junction of Station Road has been knocked over by a speeding vehicle. This was reported to WMDC who initially gave it a job number but then replied to say that as the job is low risk, it has been delayed until the next financial year. This was discussed and Cllr Hames will consider further whether this is dangerous as the signage is on the A639. The Clerk will forward communications with WMDC relating to this query to Cllr Hames.
- Accounts
Cllr Barker reported that the telephone box restoration cost £670. A donation of £50 has been made to the Village Show. The current balance is £14558.18. The CIL money balance is £7059.90, part of which must be spent by Autumn 2026, the capital grant is £2500. A donation towards the repair of the village hall floor will be raised at the next Village Hall meeting by Cllr Hames.
- Highways
Cllr Wheatley reported that the Clerk has reported the damaged Chevron by the bridge to WMDC. The speed bumps remain an issue.
A plastic barrier has been erected on the edge of the bridge over the river Went on the boundary with Thorpe Audlin which was hit by traffic.
We are grateful to Dt Councillor Booth for following up our concerns and hope for progress before the next meeting.
